Why spectral ducking sounds cleaner

A normal sidechain compressor turns the whole bass down every time the kick hits, which is what causes pumping. Spectral Sidechain measures where the kick’s energy actually is and lowers the bass only there.

Which DAWs work with Fonocal plugins?

Any VST3 host on Windows or macOS, and any AU host on macOS: Cubase, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Studio One, REAPER, FL Studio, Bitwig and GarageBand. Pro Tools (AAX) is not supported.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay $39 once, the licence is perpetual and updates are free for the lifetime of the plugin. There is no iLok, no dongle and no account required to run it.

What if it does not work for me?

Email support@fonocal.com within 30 days of purchase with your order reference and we refund the full amount. No forms, no questions about why.

How many computers can I use it on?

Up to three. If you replace a machine, you can free up a slot yourself in the account portal.

Does it run natively on Apple Silicon?

Yes. Both plugins are universal binaries, so they run natively on M1 to M4 Macs with no Rosetta, and natively on Intel Macs. macOS 11 Big Sur or later, VST3 and AU. On Windows they are 64-bit VST3 for Windows 10 and 11.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only once, to activate. After activation the plugins work fully offline.

Do I need to understand EQ to use Low-End Control?

No. It describes what it found in plain language, suggests values and applies them. If you do know EQ, the controls are all there to adjust afterwards.
